Guiding Principles Reinforced: Commission for Case Manager Certification Introduces New Board Leadership and Raises the Bar in Ethical Case Management
MOUNT LAUREL, NJ (PRWEB) July 12, 2023 -- The Commission for Case Manager Certification®, which oversees certification for over 50,000 case management and disability management professionals nationwide, announced its new 2023-2024 board officers today. As the nation’s oldest and largest case manager certification body, the Commission supports case managers and disability management specialists. This year’s Commission leadership is committed to promoting, advancing, and advocating for consumer protection and excellence through certification and related programs and services that support professional development.
Ed Quick, MA, MBA, CDMS, will serve as chair of the 16-member volunteer board. Quick brings over 25 years of professional disability and case management insight and experience to the position, with expertise in voluntary and statutory program implementation, plan design and administration. With an educational background in vocational rehabilitation and human resource management, his multifaceted perspective positions him as a visionary leader. His commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion is exemplified by his pursuit of a certificate in DE&I for Human Resources from Cornell University's e-Learning program.

In addition to Quick, the Commission’s 2023-2024 officers are:
- Chair-Elect: Patricia Nunez, MA, CCM, CDMS, CRC, former director, claim vendor management, CNA;
- Secretary: Kendra Greene, MSN, MBA/HCM, RN, CCM, senior consultant, medical management, Optum/UnitedHealth Group;
- Treasurer: Anne Mercer, CIA, CFE, CFSA, managing director, standards and guidance, the Institute of Internal Auditors; and
- Immediate Past-Chair: Teri Treiger, RN, MA, CCM, CHCQM, FABQAURP, principal, Ascent Care Management.
Two new Commissioners were also announced:
- Katherine Edwards, M.Ed, CCM, CDMS, manager, return to work and injury prevention, UMass Memorial Health; and
- Patti Kelley Morgan, MS, RN, CCM, MSCC, clinical director, field case management vendor program, Sedgwick.
The Commission’s board certification programs validate competence in the fields and require commitment to the Codes of Professional Conduct. The Commission recently updated the Codes for both board-certified case managers (CCM) and board-certified disability management specialists (CDMS). These documents are regularly reviewed to ensure certificants operate objectively and ethically in the public interest. The Codes provide CCM and CDMS certificants with a framework for daily practice, prioritizing safety, privacy, and autonomy. The Codes also offer general principles and address common ethical concerns, such as conflicts of interest, client relationships, advocacy standards, professional responsibilities, data privacy, and legal compliance.
