The historical fiction novel follows Max Diesel, son of a well-known art collector Emil Diesel, as he makes an irreversible decision to pursue his father’s art collection that was seized by the Stasi in Erfurt, East Germany in 1974.
When Max travels back to Germany, he is forced to face painful memories of his own childhood and recollections of his father’s life as a graphic artist and soldier in Amsterdam during WWII, to his days in Erfurt with his family under Russian occupation, leading up to the theft of his art collection in 1974. Max returns in 1975, after his father’s untimely death, to claim his rightful inheritance. He is coerced into a conspiracy to regain possession of his art, but not without repercussions, until 2004, when he struggles with the city and the museums in Germany for his inheritance which leads to a riveting conclusion in the fight for truth and justice against greater powers in the name of art.

About the author
As a writer, Patricia strives to connect the reader to the remarkable art of storytelling, which results in the reader stepping inside the characters, capturing the emotions of love, loss, betrayal and deception. The art of storytelling allows the reader to not only comprehend what happened but explains why it happened. For ten years Patricia listened to her husband’s stories about his father and became part of his adventure taking notes along the way, realizing the story about the case had to be told in fiction. Patricia has a B.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University and a Master’s Degree from Lesley University in Holistic Studies that gave her the first experience in serious writing – her thesis. Both academic studies emphasize the importance of studying the human condition. This is her first novel.
