Indianapolis School District Taps Scale Computing for IT Infrastructure at the Edge

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., Aug. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Scale Computing, a market leader in hyperconverged solutions, today announced that Metropolitan School District (MSD) of Wayne Township has selected Scale Computing's HC3 platform for a fast, cost effective and resilient solution for hyperconvergence at the edge of the network.

MSD Wayne Township's first school, Ben Davis High School, was established in 1892. Since then, the district has grown to more than 16,000 students in 21 schools spread across 35 miles in Indianapolis. Due to this expansion, MSD Wayne Township needed a scalable, flexible IT solution capable of processing compute at the edge of the network.

Before migrating to Scale Computing, the school district utilized a blend of cloud computing for its IT infrastructure but realized that many of its services are better provided on premises. MSD Wayne Township turned away from many virtualization solutions due to the high licensing costs until they found Scale Computing. With HC3, no additional software licensing was needed, reducing licensing and maintenance costs.

"MSD Wayne Township is driven to provide multiple pathways for learning that exceed the aspirations of our student community, which relies on exceptional, innovative technology to meet their modern education needs," said Pete Just, CTO at MSD Wayne Township. "We looked at traditional virtualization solutions for storage and came away dissatisfied. However, after learning about hyperconvergence and turning to Scale Computing, they have been basically flawless enabling the quality of digital tools we are providing to the classroom. From the reliable customer service to the easy implementation, Scale Computing has exceeded our expectations in every way."

MSD Wayne Township turned to Scale Computing's HC3 platform for server, storage, virtualization, disaster recovery and edge computing in a single solution. After having so much success with the first implementation, MSD Wayne Township has added a second implementation from Scale Computing. The all-in-one HC3 was far less complex than other solutions, greatly simplifying the management and maintenance of its infrastructure. With industry standard components, the HC3 appliances install in under an hour and can be expanded and upgraded with no downtime.

"Maximum uptime and performance is critical to any organization's IT infrastructure, especially when an organization has 21 separate sites spread across 35 miles, with a demand for compute power at the edge," said Jeff Ready, CEO and co-founder at Scale Computing. "With Scale Computing's HC3, customers like MSD Wayne Township can leverage the performance power and low cost of ownership of hyperconvergence across multiple sites at the edge of the network, with Scale Computing's support team on the backend."

Scale Computing and MSD Wayne Township will also be attending the Hossier Educational Computer Coordinators (HECC) between November 7-9, 2018 at the Crowne Hotel and Conference Center Downtown Indianapolis. To attend, register here.
