Janis Clements to Moderate Panel at Eastern District of Texas Bar Association's Bench Bar Conference

Clements, an Intellectual Property (IP) & Technology Practice of counsel in the Austin office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will moderate a panel at the Eastern District of Texas Bar Association's Bench Bar Conference Oct. 13 at 11 a.m. CDT.
Clements will moderate the Women Lawyers of Eastern District panel "Diversity in IP & the Practice of Law." The panel will cover ways to improve diversity in IP, why it must be accompanied by equity and inclusion, and the past and present views regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion from the bench, corporate practices, law schools, and private practices. Panelists include Magistrate Judge Kimberly C. Priest Johnson, USDC Eastern District of Texas (EDTX); Julie Katz, Linn Inn Alliance Board of Director Member; Dean Felicia Epps, University of North Texas at Dallas College of Law; and Britnee Reamy, senior counsel, Texas Instruments.
The conference is the "go-to annual gathering" for judges and lawyers to discuss a broad range of cutting-edge legal topics, according to the EDTX Bench Bar website. Clements also serves on the Bench Bar planning committee and the advisory committee for the association's Inaugural Women Lawyers of the Eastern District of Texas. She is membership chair of the Judge Paul Brown Inn of Court in EDTX, a proud sponsor of the WLED program.
Clements focuses her practice on patent litigation, intellectual property licensing, commercial litigation, antitrust, complex business litigation, and energy and natural resources law. She has more than 25 years of experience practicing law and has a strong trial background in federal and state courts. Clements is also experienced in managing legal and regulatory issues for energy companies with respect to commercial and technical operations, specifically analyzing environmental issues and policies, renewable energy certificates (REC) markets, renewable portfolio standards (RPS) policies, net metering policies, permitting requirements, grant opportunities, tax credits, and other financial incentives for renewable energy projects, and issues related to carbon offsets throughout the United States.
