About the Author
Mary Ferguson Belmont is a first generation American and understands many of their challenges concerning religion, culture and language. She is most proud to have followed her mother's and grandmother's career as a nurse midwife and her father's service in the United States Army. A graduate of Cornell University New York Hospital School of Nursing and Columbia University Teacher College, Belmont has taught in both the United States and Great Britain. She is currently a distinguished lecturer at Hunter College Bellevue School of Nursing. She has had wonderful experiences with two generations of toy poodles visiting veteran patients at a VA Medical Center and Mary Manning Walsh Home in New York City.
