A convert from Islam to Christianity struggles for survival in new memoir

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (PRWEB) January 06, 2015 -- Author, missionary and women’s advocate Elizabeth Fahn-Weedor shares a remarkable story of perseverance and faith in her new memoir, “Out of the Ashes: My Journey from Tragedy to Redemption” (published by WestBow Press).

Born in Liberia into a Muslim family, Fahn-Weedor later became a Christian. She fled her home country and traveled to the Ivory Coast, where she lived for more than three years as a refugee during one of Africa’s bloodiest civil wars.

Her faith in Christ helped Fahn-Weedor as she and her family were separated from loved ones. They eventually found refuge in the United States. Fahn-Weedor credits her education to the courageous financial assistance of her dearest grandmother, who stood fearlessly against a male-dominant society to make education a priority for her granddaughters.

Today, Fahn-Weedor is determined to do the same for other girls and women who find themselves following similar traditional practices and worldviews. By sharing her story of redemption in “Out of the Ashes,” she hopes to encourage other young women and show the importance of faith in God, education and determination.

She and her husband, Anthony Weedor, have four children and were honored with Denver Seminary’s Conway-Maxwell Memorial Missions award for their dedication and remarkable work in missions.
