AAP PreK-12 Learning Group Introduces the REVERE Awards to Recognize Outstanding Learning Resources
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) September 29, 2013 -- The PreK-12 Learning Group of the Association of American Publishers (AAP) is pleased to introduce the REVERE Awards program. Formerly known as the AEP Awards program, this annual event continues a decades-long tradition of honoring excellence across all resources for preK-12 and adult learners, educators, and administrators. In July, the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) merged with the AAP School Division to create the new PreK-12 Learning Group. Winners will be announced at the REVERE Awards Gala on June 4, 2014, at the Capital Hilton at Washington, DC. While the award program has been in existence since 1967, the Gala event will mark the first time that this new division of AAP will present these awards.
The three REVERE Awards include The Distinguished Achievement Awards, The Innovation Awards and The Golden Lamps. All types of organizations, large and small, are encouraged to submit their materials. Winners have included publishing houses, nonprofit organizations, museums and cultural centers, technology firms, schools and research societies.
About the Distinguished Achievement Awards
Distinguished Achievement Awards (DAAs) give entrants the opportunity to compete within a wide range of subcategories covering a large variety of product types and subject areas. Among the many categories available, the DAA competition features an extensive list of options within Periodicals, and the Learning Group is pleased to reintroduce age divisions for this specific category. The age divisions are Grades PreK-2, Grades 3-6, Grades 7-12, and Adult.
About the Innovation Awards
The Innovation Awards welcome any solution that can be considered innovative, including products, services, strategies, or research findings that enhance the learning experience; offer a more efficient way of accomplishing a task; or otherwise help solve a particular program relating to preK-12 education. Any solution in any media is eligible.
About the Golden Lamps
The Golden Lamps are the most prestigious awards in the program. Within each category, products compete against each other, regardless of subject, grade level, or media. One product is selected as the winner from each category. For this competition, judges identify products that stand alone as exemplars within their category, transcending media, audience, and subject matter.
An entirely new category called Beyond the Classroom has been added this year to both the Distinguished Achievement Awards and the Golden Lamps. This category welcomes wide range of resources used outside formal learning environments. Eligible items include, but are not limited to: fiction, nonfiction, test prep materials, reference books for all ages, toys, puzzles, manipulatives, games, websites, apps, and CD/DVDs.
The entry period will open in mid-October and the early-bird deadline for the REVERE Awards is November 15, 2013. Companies and organizations from across the preK-12 learning resource industry are invited to submit their entries on the Learning Group website.
