Decision Point Center announces that their Clinical Addiction Nutritionist, Victoria Abel, will be a presenter at two upcoming conferences that focus on addiction recovery. Victoria's presentation, Addiction Nutrition: Treating Addiction and Trauma with Food and Supplements, will be based on her research experience in the addiction recovery field over the past 17 years.
The first event, the Moments of Change conference (http://foundationsevents.com/moments-of-change-2012/), held in Palm Beach, Florida, will take place October 8-12, 2012. Victoria will also present at the 2012 Breaking Free: Trauma, Mindfulness and Process Addictions (https://www.bfisummit.com/upcoming-conferences/2012-scottsdale-az-advanced-counseling-skills/), which will be held in Scottsdale, AZ October 25-27, 2012.
At both events, Victoria will review cutting edge research on the role of nutrition for addicts in recovery. She will provide information on how individuals in recovery can manage cravings through their food and supplements. Victoria explains, "Treating the body as a whole, rather than just treating the disease, can increase the addict's chances not only at recovery, but a healthy life."
Victoria Abel, M.A., M.N.T., has been practicing in the field of addiction recovery for over 17 years. She has been a family, trauma, and primary therapist for dual diagnosis inpatient treatment as well as eating disorders treatment. She is presently an Instructor of Human Development at Prescott College and owner of Center for Addiction Nutrition (CAN). Through CAN, Victoria consults at Decision Point Center and offers independent training in addiction nutrition. She has an Undergraduate degree in counseling psychology from Prescott College, a Master’s degree in depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, and a master’s in Holistic Nutrition Therapy from the Nutrition Therapy Institute in Colorado.
In addition to sponsoring both conferences, Decision Point Center will be one of the sponsors of the Art of Recovery Expo on September 22 in Phoenix, Arizona. The Expo offers education, resources and solutions for addictions and behavioral health, with an emphasis on adolescent, young adult, and family recovery.
