LITTLETON, Colo., May 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On Tuesday May 14, Adolfson & Peterson Construction (AP) and South Suburban Parks & Recreation celebrated starting work on the new South Suburban Regional Recreation Complex with a ceremonial groundbreaking.
The regional recreation complex, designed by Perkins+Will, is the District's newest facility in nearly twenty years. The 206,000 square-foot recreation complex will include a fieldhouse with two synthetic turf fields and two gymnasiums with Pickleball courts, three sheets of ice and District administration offices. SSPR is investing nearly $61 million in the project that will replace the 50-year-old South Suburban Ice Arena and the South Suburban Administration Offices.
"This state-of-the-art building will be a great addition to the South Suburban community," said AP Sr. Project Manager Chad Jelinek. "We look forward to beginning this journey with the architect and trade partners."
The facility is being constructed on District property, located south of East County Line Road, and just west of South Holly Street in unincorporated Douglas County. Completion of the project is set for December 2020.
