Bold expansion for Alterra Pest Control pays off: Alterra has set a national record of 53,000 new customers in a single summer—an extraordinary feat for the pest control industry. When Alterra Pest Control recently opened up 13 new markets, they had set a specific goal of attracting 50,000 new customers in 2012. In May alone they added over 10,000 new customers and were well on their way to meeting their goal. As the summer progressed, it soon became clear that they would far exceed their original goals. Alterra is the first company of its kind to accomplish such phenomenal growth in such a short period of time.

This summer, due to an uncharacteristically warm winter, southern California saw an increase in pests such as Argentine ants, black widow spiders and rodents. As the pests began to increase, Alterra Pest Control anticipated that their new customers would also increase; and increase they did. The Orange County and Inland Empire areas contributed over 4,800 new customers to Alterra’s incredible record-breaking growth.

It was important to Alterra to be able to support their new customer base with progressive, environmentally responsible pest control as well as to increase the quality of their customer’s lives with every Alterra interaction. In an effort to achieve this goal, Chief Customer Officer Derrick Royce developed an extensive training program for Alterra’s operations teams.
