An All-Star Team: Julie Kicklighter Teams-Up with the Miami Marlins to Kick-Start Vision & Values
Hobe Sound, FL (PRWEB) July 28, 2014 -- Ms. Julie Kicklighter; local children’s author, former Miami Dolphins Cheerleader, and leading fitness advocate was the special-guest of The Miami Marlins at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida where she participated in their Family Sunday pre-game event. This day brought together like-minded partners as they collectively supported the advancement of children through sports & education.
On this special Sunday, Julie was at the park as she hosted a meet & greet for parents, and kids alike. Julie showed her books, gifted official Kick-Lighter bracelets, signed and gave away specially produced Baseball in the Bedroom & Miami Marlins posters. It was a massive success.
According to Ms. Kicklighter, this venue served as the perfect setting for sharing her story as to why she has written this book. It is the celebration of the love her family has always cherished with sports, and the values from which her life has been blessed as a result of competing across the landscape of sporting activity. Julie says, with reverential respect for the game, and unyielding affection for her brother; Baseball in the Bedroom is about the dream of baseball that only comes from the love of baseball. The perfect balance of its history, its quantitative perfectness, its diamond-shape hope of heroism … this is why baseball is timeless, and passed down from generation to generation. It’s the spirit of America. My beloved brother delighted in both the fantastical & practical swings of our America’s Pastime. This is why she honored his memory with this book.
Apparently the gravity of Julie’s writing transcends beyond parents & children as Hall of Fame baseball columnist Mr. Peter Gammons, was responsible for writing the forward to Baseball in the Bedroom.
The Miami Marlins could not have been more thrilled with this event as they believe it was a Grand-Slam of fun, like-minded values and a chance for kids to fall deeper in love with baseball as they increase their own intellectual capacity through reading. Mr. Alan Alvarez, Marlins Foundation Partners Coordinator, said; developing this partnership was as wide-eyed exciting as 3-1 hanging curve ball. Yes, this idea just made so much sense for the Marlins, our fans, the Miami community and baseball at large. Having a successful & established local children’s author who already has such deep ties to South Florida sports, and whose mission is to elevate the mind, body & spirit of children come to our stadium is like batting a perfect 1,000. We had a blast this past Sunday. Too, her values fit quite well with some of the other programs we here at The Marlins support to help our local community. From our Marlins Think Tank to our Youth & Military programs, Julie is perfect fit. We are so pleased to have her join the team here at the Marlins.

Julie Kicklighter, affectionately known as Kick by her friends and colleagues, is a true child of the deep South. Raised alongside two older brothers in a family of athletes and sports enthusiasts, Julie found her place in the family as its number one cheerleader- literally!
Julie’s years as captain of the Georgia Southern University cheerleading squad helped ready her for a prosperous future in the National Football League. She went on to become a Miami Dolphins Cheerleader, and was awarded 2005 Rookie of the Year by the organization for a stand out season. Her career with the Miami Dolphins included performing stand-up comedy at NFL Draft Day, Miami Dolphins Fan Fest, as well as numerous overseas tours for the U.S. Military with the Armed Forces Entertainment Group.
Julie has appeared in front of the camera on Fox Sports Net, Spike TV, and the NFL Network. She has also been featured by Channel 10’s Sports Jam Live, Channel 7’s Sports Extra, and Fins TV on NBC 6. Her on air experience includes WQAM Sports Talk Radio Miami, ESPN Radio Orlando & Tampa, CBS Sports Talk Radio Tampa, and of course, the Dolphins Fanatics Online Radio Show.
Julie has worked as a sports model and competitor and can be seen on workout videos with world renowned fitness gurus Denise Austin, Jennifer Nicole Lee, and Brenda Dygraf. She was also a member of Sweethearts for Soldiers, a select group of former NFL and NBA Cheerleaders who provided entertainment for the troops overseas and stateside. She is currently a MDC Ambassador, assisting with the Miami Dolphins Youth Cheer Camps, game day fan relations, and the Miami Dolphins Special Teams (a community outreach program).
