The increase is believed to be due to the introduction of a new product and the ‘Making Sense of Laser Markable Metals’ hands-on seminar.

Horizons Imaging Systems Group (ISG), a leader in printable and laser markable aluminum sheet products, saw booth traffic up over 2011 at the Awards & Recognition (ARA) Trade Show in Las Vegas. The increase is believed to be due to the introduction of a new product and the ‘Making Sense of Laser Markable Metals’ hands-on seminar.
The new product introduced is called DuraBlack. DuraBlack is CO2 laser markable aluminum for durable, on-demand marking for harsh operating environments. DuraBlack’s specialized coating makes it resistant to sunlight (UV-degradation), abrasion, high-temperatures, salt-spray and chemical exposure. Ideal for applications such as outdoor signage, placards, barcode labels and other asset tags, DuraBlack has earned certifications to several industrial and military specifications including MIL-STD 130N, A-A-50271 (MIL-P-514D) and MIL-STD-15024F, Type L.
Away from the booth Product Designer Andrew Marvin led a hands-on demonstration in his course “Making Sense of Laser Markable Metals”. The course is available for free download at http://www.alumamark.com. Topics covered included an overview of laser-markable metals available (incl. AlumaMark, DuraBlack, CerMark, LaserBlak, Laser-It and Metalgraph Plus), a hands-on demonstration of how to mark metals with a CO2 laser and a discussion of how to pick the right metal for your application. Based on the success of the course, Horizons ISG plans a follow-up titled “Making Sense of Industrial Laser Markable Metals”.
The Horizons ISG booth was 20 feet long and featured three of our products: AlumaMark, DuraBlack and AlumaJet. We were flanked on all sides by our stellar dealers, including Johnson Plastics, LaserBits, Marco Awards Group, Bur-Lane, Gravograph, Engraver’s Express, Canadian Engravers Supply Company, Jorlink, PDU Company and ID Plates. Still, the week wasn’t all work and no play. The entire team attended the ARA Gala event on Thursday night and stayed an extra night to make a donation to the Nevada Gaming Commission.
