Heritage Woods of Huntley, a BMA assisted living community, is hosting an informational Ice Cream Social on "Understanding the Different Stages of Dementia" at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 11.
Licensed clinical psychologist Kelly Gustafson, PsyD, will be speaking.
The community is located at 12450 Regency Parkway in Huntley, Illinois.
"Come and join us for information and ice cream," says Renee Swanson, Director of Marketing for Heritage Woods of Huntley.
The program is open to the public. There is no charge to attend.

Heritage Woods recently was honored for having received a perfect score on its state survey and to be one of the few assisted living communities in Illinois to be awarded a two-year license from the state.
The community provides older adults with a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home, says Swanson.
"Our focus is on providing older adults with the love, compassion and dignity that they deserve in addition to the help and assistance that they need to maintain their independence," says Swanson.
The community combines apartment-home living with the availability of personal assistance and help with medications.
Each of the private studio and one-bedroom apartments features a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, and an emergency alert system.
Certified nursing assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All three meals each day, houskeeping and laundry are among the included services.
"Residents also benefit from all of the opportunities that are available to socialize with friends and neighbors and to participate in social and recreational programs and activities no matter what the weather," says Swanson.
The community is managed by BMA Management, Ltd., the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.
Based in Bradley, Illinois, BMA operates 36 senior living communities housing more than 3,300 homes and apartments.
Communities managed by BMA include the Heritage Woods affordable assisted living communities in Batavia, Belvidere, Bolingbrook, Chicago, DeKalb, Gurnee, McHenry, Plainfield, Rockford and Yorkville, Illinois.
