Prairie Winds of Urbana, a BMA affordable assisted living community, is hosting a Thanksgiving Brunch on Sunday, Nov. 18.

The community, which is located at 1905 Prairie Winds Dr. in Urbana, Illinois, serves seniors of all incomes who need some help to maintain their independence, providing them with the opportunity to live in a residential apartment-home environment and receive personal assistance and help with medications.

“Our special Thanksgiving brunch will feature Belgium waffle and omelet bars, ham and turkey carving stations, and oodles of side dishes and desserts,” says Margaret Seggebruch, Director of Marketing for Prairie Winds.  Seating times are 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Cost is $16 for adults and $5 for children four to 12 years of age.  Prairie Winds residents and children three and under are free.

Prairie Winds is fully certified to operate through the Illinois Supportive Living program, which enables the community to serve adults 65 and older of all financial means, including those on Medicaid.

The community is managed by BMA Management, Ltd.  Based in Bradley, Illinois, BMA is the largest provider of assisted living in Illinois.

“Our focus is on providing older adults with the love, compassion and dignity that they deserve as well as with the care and support that they need,” says Rod Burkett, President and Chief Executive Officer of BMA.  “Our emphasis is on helping each resident achieve and maintain as much independence as possible for as long as possible.”

Among the features included in each apartment at Prairie Winds is a kitchenette, spacious bathroom with shower and grab bars, and an emergency alert system.

Certified nurses assistants are on-duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Meals, housekeeping and laundry are included.

“Communities such as Prairie Winds provide a wonderful alternative to a nursing home or to struggling alone at home,” says Burkett.

Among the senior living communities managed by BMA in Illinois are the Bowman Estates affordable assisted living community in Danville, Illinois; the Bridle Brook assisted living and memory care community in Mahomet, Illinois; the Eagle Ridge affordable assisted living community in Decatur, Illinois; and the Heritage Woods of Watseka affordable assisted living community in Watseka, Illinois.
