The Authentic Leadership Alliance is inviting nominations for its inaugural Authentic Leader of the Year award, recognizing an exceptional leader in 2012.

The Authentic Leadership Alliance (ALA) is announcing a call for nominations for its inaugural Authentic Leader of the Year award. The award, which recognizes a leader who embodies the core attributes of authentic leadership, will be announced at the end of the year.

"It has been a challenging and volatile year, demanding transparent, centered leadership built on a bedrock of trust; leadership that does the right thing and gets the right thing done," said ALA CEO Susan Tardanico. "We look forward to recognizing an exceptional authentic leader with this award."

The award is open to individuals who in 2012 have led an organization of at least fifty people in a public or private corporation, nonprofit organization or institution and have demonstrated:

1) Purpose: the ability to engage employees and other stakeholders through a clear and shared sense of purpose.

2) Values/Character: modeling personal beliefs and convictions that come from a profound self-awareness; acting in accordance with these values no matter how much pressure comes to bear.

3) Credibility: demonstrating unwavering integrity combined with business/organizational discipline and performance that earn the trust of key constituencies.

Those wishing to nominate a candidate should submit a one-page summary describing the leader's performance in each of these three areas and provide 2-3 names of references with e-mail addresses.

Deadline for submission is Friday, November 9, 2012. Nominations should be sent to Sandra Therrault at the Authentic Leadership Alliance (smt(at)authenticleadershipalliance(dot)com).
