Best of Our Town, USA Announces Partnership With Velocity Sports Performance
Newport News, Va. (PRWEB) May 15, 2014 -- Best of Our Town, USA is joining forces with one of the largest and most respected sports performance training franchises – Velocity Sports Performance – to help bring its showcase series across the country.

Launched in late 2013 by the team that brought Hampton Roads, Virginia the Best of the 757 sports showcases for high school athletes, the Best of Our Town, USA takes that model and offers the playbook on how to develop and host a sport specific combine and skills showcase in any town, city or locality across the U.S.
“By offering sporting combines and skills showcases in sports such as baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, and more, athletes in any community can get the needed exposure to gain an opportunity in collegiate athletics and possibly beyond,” said Suzanne Culotta, Director of the Best of the 757 and partner in Best of Our Town, USA. “We are excited to align ourselves and work alongside the highly skilled professionals with Velocity at its locations across the country.”

Over the past five years, the Best of the 757 event series has brought together more than 3,500 high school athletes in the Hampton Roads, VA market. These showcases are not only a powerful way for talented athletes to showcase their skills and match up against other athletes in their area, according to Culotta, but it’s also a proven business model. The Best of Our Town, USA also donates $1 per athlete registration to the National Foundation on Fitness Sports and Nutrition and the Wounded Warrior Project.
There are nearly 40 Velocity training facilities across the United States, Culotta said, and they hope to see each facility become a market owners of Best of Our Town, USA.
“Although there are other types of combines, camps and showcases targeting high school athletes, the Best of Our Town, USA has developed a highly unique concept and platform that combines athletic testing, coaching, skill competitions and cutting edge technology,” said Tim Hummel, former Cincinnati Red and Co-Founder of the Best of Our Town, USA.
Over 500 former participants who have competed in previous Best of the 757 combines and showcases, including the 2013 Gatorade Football Player of the Year Andrew Brown, have gone on to play college football, basketball and baseball for, among other schools, the University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, Ohio State University, University of South Carolina, University of North Carolina, University of Maryland, East Carolina University, Providence, Old Dominion University, University of Richmond, and the College of William and Mary.
