Each piece in the collection is carefully crafted by hand. For the raw material, rubber tire sidewalls are cleaned and thinned for greater suppleness and flexibility. Then the material is sealed for durability and to enhance the rich ebony color; finally, it is cut, shaped and formed to create the variety of designs.
Carbon / Black’s elemental style offers customers an alternative to Big Grass’s more traditional indoor Mai™ Collection. This line of durable storage baskets and boxes is handmade (removed word "in") from double-woven bamboo skin and bulrush and lined with Thai silk or removable cotton.
