Elmwood Park, NJ (Vocus) January 20, 2010
In efforts to generate greater participation among its members and to grow the craft and hobby industry, the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) is pleased to announce the CHA Winter Convention & Trade Show venues for 2011 and 2012. The 2011 Winter Show will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Saturday, January 29 through Tuesday, February 1, 2011 and the 2012 Winter Show will return the Anaheim Convention Center from Sunday, January 29 through Wednesday, February 1, 2012.
“As one of Trade Show Weeks Largest 200 events in North America CHA is faced with some unique exhibiting requirements that can only be serviced in top-tier trade show cities like Anaheim and Los Angeles,” explained Steve Berger, President and CEO, CHA. “Over the past several years CHA has aggressively pursued the best rates, accommodations and concessions from potential host cities in order to keep costs down, grow the show and industry, and keep our members happy.”
With significant improvements to the Los Angeles Convention Center and the creation of L.A. Live, a 5.6 million square foot sports and entertainment destination located in the heart of downtown L.A. enhanced the surrounding area with broadcast studios, restaurants, cafes, cinemas, bowling lanes, and music clubs in what has been described as a “rebirth” for L.A. The thousands of new hotel rooms, hundreds of thousands of feet of exhibit and meeting space, along with the introduction of new restaurants re-establishes L.A. as a safe, friendly, world-class city ready to welcome CHA.
LA Inc., the Los Angeles Convention & Visitors Bureau, will sponsor the 2010 Winter Keynote presentation and Awards Ceremony featuring Dr. Martha Beck from 7:45 – 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, January 24 at the Anaheim Convention Center. Prior to the Keynote address attendees will be able to watch a video highlighting sites and hot spots in Los Angeles. To purchase tickets to the Keynote address and Awards Ceremony please visit http://www.chashow.org. While at the Show attendees can visit the LA booth # 3688 where LA Ambassador and celebrity, Candi Spelling, will sign autographs and give away prizes. Universal Studios will also send Shrek and Fiona for photo and ‘hug’ opportunities.
CHA has developed a strong and lasting connection to the Anaheim Convention Center for the CHA Winter Show. In fact, the most successful Winter Show ever, was held in Anaheim and many CHA members now call it “home.” In order to keep the Show fresh, CHA will periodically move the Winter Show to new venues but will always return “home” to Anaheim.
“Over the past four years in Anaheim, CHA members have been pampered by the City of Anaheim, the Anaheim Convention Center and its wonderful restaurants and hotels,” said Berger. “With the close proximity to Disneyland, the beach, affordable hotels and dinning, and access to shopping, Anaheim has something for everyone. That’s why we are happy to bring the Winter Show back to Anaheim in 2012.”
On Monday, January 25, 2010 from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. in room 204A, CHA members are welcome to attend the CHA Town Hall Meeting, where they can ask questions directly to CHA executives and learn more about CHA Winter Show venue selection or discuss any CHA-related items.
