Chicago Nursing Home Abuse Lawyers at Ronaldson & Kuchler File Lawsuit Against Joliet Facility
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) February 17, 2014 -- The Chicago law firm Ronaldson & Kuchler has filed a lawsuit against a Joliet nursing home on behalf of the father of a mentally disabled teenager who was allegedly sexually assaulted by an employee in November.
According to the lawsuit (filed Dec. 19, 2013, in Will County Circuit Court, case number 2013L 001000), a certified nursing assistant at Salem Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center conspired with another nursing assistant to allow him unsupervised access to the alleged victim, which was prohibited by the center’s policy. The employee “repeatedly sexually assaulted and raped” the teenage girl, who is now 19, according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit names as defendants the nursing home, the owners and the employee who allegedly committed the sexual assault and rape.

According to the lawsuit, Salem Village employed two nursing assistants and a skilled nurse working overnight shifts. The lawsuit states that the girl’s father was told by administrators, when the girl was admitted to the facility, that no male personnel would have unsupervised contact with his daughter.
According to the lawsuit, the alleged sexual assault has caused the victim extreme permanent physical and emotional trauma. The lawsuit is seeking compensatory and punitive damages that would “severely punish” the defendants and serve as a deterrent, according to the lawsuit.
