Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Appoints President and CEO of Marriott Vacation Worldwide as New Board Chair
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) December 16, 2014 -- Steve Weisz, president and CEO of Marriott Vacation Worldwide Corporation, has been appointed chairman of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® Board of Trustees. Weisz, who has been a member of the charity’s board for seven years, will take the chair reins on Jan. 1, 2015.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals across the U.S. and Canada that treat more than 10 million kids a year.
“With every encounter – whether it be with a miracle child, caregiver, donor or anyone else who is helping to provide the best health care for kids – I am more dedicated to our mission,” Weisz said. “I am honored to chair the board of this fine organization and look forward to seeing all that we can continue to accomplish in 2015.”
Weisz, who has a 42-year career with Marriott, is a leader in the hospitality industry. Prior to leading Marriott Vacation Worldwide Corporation, he was president of Marriott Vacation Club International, overseeing the vacation ownership division and three brands including Marriott Vacation Club, Grand Residences by Marriott and The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club.
Weisz is replacing Jim Shmerling, President and CEO of The Children’s Hospital Colorado, who served as CMN Hospitals’ board chair for two years and will continue to serve on the board. “It was an honor and privilege to serve as the board chair of such an amazing organization,” said Shmerling. “I know that Steve will do an outstanding job guiding the organization and providing insights and leadership to help meet the vital needs at all 170 member hospitals.”
