Event is to be held on July 23 in conjunction with nationwide celebrations with free admission to the CTHC
DUNCAN, Okla., July 15, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Chisholm Trail Heritage Center staff and volunteers are preparing for their annual National Day of the Cowboy Celebration July 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Every year, CTHC celebrates the nationally recognized event by offering free admission all day. Everyone is invited to help celebrate the cowboy legacy at CTHC.
"We love celebrating National Day of the Cowboy with our community members," said Leah Mulkey, CTHC assistant director. "Each year we have special guests join, which is really fun."
This year, Pauline Asbury will show guests how to weave baskets, Jerry Bennett, a comic artist, will be doing live sketching, Connor Sager, CTHC board member, will show guests how to rope, and Gaylon Blankenship and Missy Frye will be performing. Gaylon and Missy will also be welcoming former students of their beloved band member, Allen Wooten, in honor of his memory.
Guests can interact with the special guests, enjoy both of CTHC's theaters, play in the interactive exhibit, and browse the Garis Gallery of the American West. Guests can also enjoy the new featured artist exhibit, "American(a) Dream" by Jilli Jones.
Children's crafts will also be available thanks to the Oklahoma Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts.
"We hope everyone in town will be able to join us and celebrate National Day of the Cowboy," Mulkey said. "It is always such a fun day!"
