Sales of dinosaur related products are up more than 400% this season.

Girls love to play dress-up, but wearing a full costume to school isn't an option for most preschool age children. Wearing a pair of pink Sparkle Mary Janes is a great way for girls to live out their princess fantasies while still meeting the school's dress code

Dinosaur shoes and apparel are the hot item this fall at children's footwear retailer MyKidsFeet.com. Sales of Dinosoles brand children's shoes have skyrocketed more than 400% since June, a key indicator that dinosaurs may be staging a comeback against new cartoon characters, which are seemingly lacking in the marketplace this Christmas.

"Springtime was all about Nickelodeon shoes by Stride Rite, featuring names like Snotrocket and Huckaloogie, but as cold weather approaches, dinosaurs, and the T-Rex in particular are winning over boys all over the country," said owner Alex Curavo. "We're even adding dinosaur clothing, including t-shirts, hats and backpacks and pulling forward additional inventory to meet the excess demand for dinosaur gifts, just in time for the Christmas shopping season."

In tough economic times, many parents are looking for gifts that are practical, yet still appeal to a child's senses. Dinosaur-themed shoes and clothing are a great alternative to toys for younger boys and fulfill both a functional need and the child's desire for fun gifts. MyKidsFeet.com has already shipped nearly 100 pair of the new Dinosoles T-Rex shoes in the first two weeks of their release, and has ordered additional inventory to meet the demand for the peak holiday shopping season.

While dinosaur shoes are the top pick for boys this fall, young girls continue to be drawn to sparkle shoes, such as those offered by Morgan & Milo, that fulfill their princess fantasies. "Girls love to play dress-up, but wearing a full costume to school isn't an option for most preschool age children. Wearing a pair of pink Sparkle Mary Janes is a great way for girls to live out their princess fantasies while still meeting the school's dress code," said Curavo.

Purchasing a new pair of dinosaur or princess sparkle shoes can mean a joyful Christmas for more than just the intended recipient this holiday season, thanks to the Community Cares program at MyKidsFeet.com. Through December 31, 2009, the company will help a child in need by donating one pair of shoes or sandals for every pair of Dinosoles or Morgan & Milo children's shoes sold. The shoes are donated to Soles4Souls, a non-profit organization which distributes shoes to those most in need in the United States and more than 60 other countries around the globe.
