Coherix Inc. Debuts its ShaPix® 1510 Solution and Speaks about the Importance of Full 3D Areal Measurements for Brakes and Engines

Interested in sharing technical insight of high-definition metrology into the braking system industry and the sealing industry, Coherix is giving two presentations this fall and attending two large events.
On October 7 and 8, Dave Gruber, Coherix Braking Specialist will be joining Link Engineering in their booth at the 31st Annual SAE 2013 Brake Colloquium and Exhibition in Jacksonville, Florida. Showcasing the ShaPix 1510 Solution, Dave will provide live demonstrations of full 3D areal measurements of complex braking system challenges. Later this fall, on October 22-24, Coherix will also be joining Link Engineering at the Automotive Testing Expo in Novi, MI. Mike Mater, Chief Engineer for ShaPix will be providing a presentation on full 3D, non-contact, high-definition metrology solutions at the Open Technology Forum.
At both coming events Coherx will be showcasing the newest member of the ShaPix 1500 Series – the ShaPix 1510. The 1510 is a complete metrology solution based on the ShaPix S150 sensor. The 1510 system has a compact footprint and is designed to measure small and large surfaces that may require stitching. This solution configuration has the S150 sensor mounted on a manual XY gantry system overtop a threaded base plate used to quickly fixture parts. This solution is particularly relevant to the Brake Colloquium because of its strength in measuring and visualizing a large variety of braking system components with a single system, in a short amount of time, with high resolution. Attendees of these exhibitions can expect to learn about the very latest technologies and services that are designed to ensure the highest standards are met in terms of product quality, reliability, durability and safety.
On October 16 from 4:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Mike Mater will be presenting “Understanding Milled Surfaces from Design to Seal” at the STLE Detroit Section meeting. In order for manufacturers to meet sealing demands for the engine and transmission markets, new methods are needed to characterize and measure surfaces. Powertrain components are now operating at higher pressures, using new materials, and are produced with enhanced manufacturing methods - each of which impacts the function or the seal of a joint between surfaces. This presentation is about separating surface form and waviness into three process contributors which can be isolated with high-definition metrology (fixtures, part stiffness, and cutter paths).
