CompuHigh is a nationally accredited private school, which makes us an ideal choice for military families and others who might have to move around, or students who aren’t thriving in a traditional high school environment.

Attending high school online at CompuHigh is no longer an obstacle to a military career. According to the Department of Defense, the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act requires that “eligible students with diplomas from home schools, virtual/distance learning and adult/alternative schools, who score 50 or above on the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT), will now receive Tier 1 enlistment priority.” This is a shift from its previous policy that often gave students with online high school diplomas tier 2 status. Since at least 90% of recruits must be chosen from Tier 1, this amounts to a significant impediment being lifted.
“This is great news for our students,” says Jeannette Geib, Educational Director at CompuHigh. “CompuHigh is a nationally accredited private school, which makes us an ideal choice for military families and others who might have to move around, or students who aren’t thriving in a traditional high school environment. Many of these families wanted to keep the option of a military career open. In the past, we had to warn away many families who would have otherwise been an great fit at CompuHigh.”
CompuHigh changed the information on its website warning students interested in the military to talk to a recruiter prior to enrolling. Now CompuHigh links students directly to the policy announcement on the D.O.D website.
CompuHigh is accredited by AdvancEd and is held to the same educational standards as ‘brick and mortar’ schools. The D.O.D has found that “Those with diplomas from home schools, virtual/distance learning and adult/alternative schools who score above 50 on the AFQT have similar attrition to traditional high school graduates.”
CompuHigh is the "world's first online high school" providing accredited online high school diploma programs and courses since 1994. CompuHigh has a unique mastery curriculum that allows students to work at their own pace, one on one with a teacher for each course. Students can enroll at any time of year for either individual courses or in the diploma program.
