“Veterans bring a wealth of skills, leadership ability and loyalty to the workplace. Many companies have expressed the desire to hire veterans but don’t know where to start, and many have implemented hiring programs but need guidance on how to support veterans in the workplace,” said Amy Fairweather, Swords to Plowshares’ Director of Policy.
The Veteran Employment Strategy Summit is intended to encourage partnerships between employers and the veteran community. Summit participants will discuss obstacles and solutions for veteran recruitment, training, placement and supporting veterans in the workplace.
“This is great opportunity for Bay Area employers to deepen their understanding about veteran culture and the value of hiring a veteran,” said Fairweather. “Unlike a job fair, the summit is not meant to be a hiring event, but a tool and resource for hiring managers.”
