Digital Marketer Blog Post Looks Into Popularity of E-Reader Apps

DM’s popular online marketing blog highlighted the recent revamps Amazon made to Apple’s Kindle reader app.

Digital Marketer’s Managing Editor and lead blogger Josh Loposer wrote a recent blog post about e-book reading, and wants to know what app Apple lovers use the most.

After Amazon’s announcement of new e-readers, the blog post said that Amazon finally made their Kindle app compatible with an iPad or other Apple-operated device.

“Thus far, Apple’s efforts have trailed Amazon in the e-reader department,” wrote Loposer. “Partly, that’s because iPads 1 through 3 have been a little too large for optimized e-reading — something the iPad Mini may remedy. Lots of e-book enthusiasts have also complained about all the icons and graphical add-ons that come along with iBooks.”

Lots of users, Loposer says, are attracted to Kindle’s ease of use. That has caused Amazon to maintain a grip on the overall e-reader market, something Apple may begin to chip away at with this new update.

“As a budding Kindle author,” wrote Loposer, “I’m really interested in the competition between Kindle and iBooks. Amazon is clearly the 800-lb gorilla of e-book publishing right now — while Apple is the 800-lb gorilla of everything else. If you plan to use the Number One Book System to publish books to Kindle, this is something you’ll want to pay close attention to as well. That’s because, when you format a book for publication, you’ll need to optimize it for each environment.”
