A new trend “toasts” animal shelters & rescues around the country.

For every member that joins, it will help us meet the immediate needs for feeding our animals.

In a new trend that’s sweeping the nation, animal shelters, therapy, service and rescue organizations around the United States are taking part in a new program to bring in much needed revenue. Launched in August, 2007, the “Bark Partners” program through Dog Lovers Wine Club, provides ongoing support to eligible organizations.

A unique way to “toast” life with dogs, Dog Lovers Wine Club (based in Buellton, CA) provides premium wine on a monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly basis to its members. The wine shipments feature a chosen dog on an illustrated wine label. It also includes the dog’s personal story. Dogs are chosen from people across the country who submit their stories at http://www.dogloverswineclub.com. The wine shipments also include tips about dogs, tasting notes about the wine, the source of the grapes and recommended food pairings. The wine label illustration for September’s dog, named Aspen, is attached. Aspen is a deaf and visually impaired Great Dane, who was abandoned in a Washington, D.C. park at the age of 5 months. He now has a loving home in Maryland.

Animal shelters and rescue organizations receive ongoing support from Dog Lovers Wine Club, when people go online to sign up for a wine club membership. Go to http://www.dogloverswineclub.com and click on “affiliates” at the top of the home page. Then, you can see a listing of “Bark Partners” to choose the organization you want to receive the support. According to Dog Lovers Wine Club co-founders Matt Hahn and Fleet Hamilton, “By providing them donations based upon club member subscriptions, we are supporting these non-profits with a continuous income stream, rather than one-time or occasional donations. This effectively puts them in charge of their incomes.”

Plus, with the holiday season around the corner, pet lovers and wine lovers are clamoring for unique gift opportunities. A wine club membership to Dog Lovers Wine Club is the gift that keeps on giving. Dave Richardson, Executive Director of the Spokane Humane Society says, “For every member that joins, it will help us meet the immediate needs for feeding our animals.”

Organizations are welcome to fill out a “Bark Partners” application by going to http://www.dogloverswineclub.com and clicking on “affiliates” at the top of the home page. Eligible non-profit or volunteer shelter and rescue organizations must be located in states that allow wine shipping. Due to individual state alcohol laws, wine shipments are legally limited to AK, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, ID, IL, IA, LA, MI, MN, MO, NH, NV, NM, NY, NC, ND, OH, OR, TX, VA, WA, WV, WI, WY.
