DStreet Takes Home Top Honors for Best Op-Ed Piece in 2014 PR Daily Awards
Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) June 24, 2014 -- DStreet, a Denver-based public relations and communications consultancy, won top honors in the category of “Best Op-Ed Piece” in this year’s 2014 PR Daily Awards. In addition, DStreet was recognized for its work with Cabela’s, earning an honorable mention for “Best Event Marketing.”
DStreet won the Best Op-Ed Piece award for its work with Carey Lohrenz, one of the first female F-14 Tomcat fighters in the U.S. Navy. Following her military career, Lohrenz became a motivational speaker, traveling to major corporations and events and addressing fearless leadership. Unfortunately, a political group had targeted her online with a negative story due to her views on women in combat. The story, highly visible in search engine results, was making some corporations hesitant to book her for events, and negatively impacting her business.
Lohrenz came to DStreet to help her generate additional positive online content and to improve her website's search engine optimization, in an effort to push the negative story off the first page of Internet search results. DStreet successfully pitched an op-ed under Lohrenz's byline to TIME magazine, and was able to not only boost SEO but also further establish Lohrenz as an expert on women in the military and, ultimately, the workforce.
DStreet earned an honorable mention in the category of Best Event Marketing for its work with retail giant Cabela's, which opened two stores on the same day in the Denver market in August 2013. DStreet developed a media strategy and schedule of news events building to the event, planned exclusives with the Denver Post and a local NBC affiliate, and secured kid-friendly promotional giveaways with top-tier family-targeted online media. The openings were the largest in Cabela's history, with record attendance and coverage exceeding 78 million impressions.
DStreet continues to receive accolades in the public relations industry, having recently been recognized with five PRSA Colorado awards and three Hermes Creative awards in 2013, in addition to the PR Daily Best Op-Ed Piece award and Best Event Marketing honorable mention.
