Education Workshop Brings Anti-drug Message to South Los Angeles Community Group
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 06, 2015 -- Amid controversy over the recent report of rising Los Angeles crime rates after a 12-year decline, the Church of Scientology Inglewood is responding with drug prevention programs at its South Los Angeles Community Center to help stem drug-related crime.
Last week’s Truth About Drugs workshop trained 18 men and women from a local Christian group that works with youth in South Central. Every one of them had personal experiences with the havoc drug addiction wreaks in the community and in families.
The training session was provided by the head of the local Foundation for a Drug-Free World whose experience with the youth she works with a Fairfax High School has confirmed the effectiveness of the Truth About Drugs materials.
The Truth About Drugs workshop is a very interactive activity. The way the curriculum is laid out makes it easy for anyone to pick up the educator’s package and put it to immediate use.
Those attending were so satisfied with the results of their workshop they decided to enlist an army of drug education specialists, train them on the Truth About Drugs program at the Scientology Community Center and launch them into the community to put these materials to use in drug prevention and gang intervention programs.
