Efficiency Vermont Launches Community Partnership Grants: New Effort Aims to Help Non-Profits and Low-Income Vermonters
Burlington, VT (PRWEB) September 30, 2013 -- Efficiency Vermont has launched a new grant program for non-profit organizations that serve low-income Vermonters. The Community Energy Partnership Grant Program will enable to Vermont non-profits to provide energy-saving products and assistance to their clients, in addition to the many other services they offer.
“Low-income Vermonters spend a larger percentage of their incomes on energy than anyone else in the state does,” said Jim Merriam, Director of Efficiency Vermont, the statewide energy efficiency utility. “We look forward to teaming up with Vermont non-profits to help ease that burden.”
Efficiency Vermont invites non-profits serving low-income Vermonters to submit proposals specifying ways they would use the funding to help their clients save energy. For example, using existing home visits to help clients arrange for services that button up drafty homes.
“All ideas are welcome,” said Jim Merriam. “The professionals in these organizations have a tremendous depth of expertise on the needs and experiences of their clients. It will be an honor to have a role in enhancing their efforts by giving more Vermonters the opportunity to make their homes more affordable and comfortable.”
Organizations interested in submitting a proposal or learning more can visit http://www.veic.org/company/requests-for-proposals. The proposal deadline is 5:00 p.m. on October 21, 2013. The one-year grant program will award funds to grant recipients in January, 2014.
