Pro Chek Home Inspection Services, the regions leading home inspection company serving New York and Connecticut, recently launched its new Comprehensive Home Assessment (CHA) program, aimed at combating high fuel costs and increasing the comfort and health of a home.
"With nearly 15 years in the home inspection business, we have seen thousands of energy inefficient homes," said Edward Milot, CEO of Pro Chek." With proper direction, homeowners can identify and correct the issues to help save money on utility bills and make their homes more comfortable".
An energy assessment performed by a fully licensed provider is the first step that is required to take advantage of significant federal and state incentives and tax credits.
Pro Chek inspectors view a home as a finely tuned engine, making sure that all components in the home system are working with each other to optimize performance.
The CHA program includes three components: an on-site home inspection, a cost analysis and an "Improvement Assessment Report." In addition, Pro Chek guides homeowners through the New York Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program which offers New York residents cash incentives for energy efficient improvements completed by a BPI Accredited Home Performance contractor. Pro Chek also assists Connecticut homeowners in identifying quality contractors and appropriate incentives that may be available through the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund.
The on-site home inspection takes approximately three hours and includes a thorough visual inspection and a blower door evaluation test to determine air sealing and heat loss. Items considered in the inspection are the construction and materials of the home, insulation levels, window/door types and efficiency, the window/door to wall area ratios, mechanical system (heating and cooling), the orientation of the house, and lighting.
The cost analysis compares historical fuel and utility costs against benchmark measures such as 30-year temperature average data, average regional fuel and utility costs, and forecasted fuel prices.
The Improvement Assessment Report offers practical, affordable recommendations for home improvements. The report includes the costs to install, annual savings, payback in years, cash
flow per year, and the savings to investment ratio (SIR), which is used by lending institutions when considering issuing loans for energy improvements. Pro Chek offers assessments and recommendations; they do not perform repairs. Therefore, Pro Chek able to offer an unbiased third party perspective because they have no stake in the results.
After the recommendations have been made and implemented, Pro Chek returns to the home to make sure that the repairs have been successful and energy savings and home health goals have been met. The result: a healthy, comfortable, home.
Just minutes from the New York border, Pro Chek's headquarters is conveniently located to serve its New York and Connecticut clients at 100 Mill Plain Rd in Danbury, CT and can be reached at 1.800.338.5050.
