MobilePlanet Inc. today announced that it has changed its name to eXpansys in the US marketplace. MobilePlanet, a subsidiary of eXpansys plc, is a leading retailer of smartphones and handheld devices with wireless connectivity, serving retail customers through the internet and corporate customers through direct sales channels.
eXpansys’ growth has been both organic and through a number of strategic acquisitions over the last 5 years, one of which was MobilePlanet in 2005. The name change is part of a global branding strategy following the companies listing on the AIM, through an April 2007 IPO on the London Stock Exchange.
Steve Muttram, President of US Operations for eXpansys said, “as a global public company with a number of different brands, we have decided to bring all our non eXpansys brands into the fold, and as such, as of the 1st of February 2008 MobilePlanet will be changing its name to eXpansys in the USA.”
“The change from MobilePlanet to eXpansys is in name only, and the company will continue to operate as normal. The transition will be seamless in regards to our customers and their current orders,” said Corey Leach, Business Development Manager.
