Fibre Arts Design bags for men and women on the go are made from recycled materials and manufactured in the Bay Area.

San Francisco fashion photographer Michael Soo recently found himself enchanted with Fibre Arts Design’s line of recycled handbags. Made from industry remnants, recycled materials and organic fibers (no animal products) in a Palo Alto studio that runs on wind and solar power, Fibre Arts Design proves that being green can also be chic. He loves that they’re made in a socially/environmentally responsible way, but as a photographer he is really drawn to their texture and color.

“They’re the latest trend and they’ve traveled to fashion shows in L.A., San Francisco, and are now on their way to Milan," said Soo. “From my perspective as a photographer, the unique colors and fabrics definitely have caught my eye.”

With a line that includes shoulder, hobo, wrist and cross-body bags, and even bags made for men, there’s something for everyone in Fibre Arts Design’s collection. Michael Soo took advantage of the way the combination of recycled fabrics naturally draws the eye and made the handbags the focal point of a recent fashion photography shoot.

In one image, Soo used a simple gray background to contrast with the many shades of blue on a model in jeans, a recycled top and a wrist bag. Another image highlights the practicality of the shoulder bags as four friends take them for a spin on a bike ride along the California coast. In shades of black, orange and yellow, the women’s and men’s designs are eye-catching but eminently usable.

In addition to the fashion shoot featured on his blog, Michael Soo also provided all the photos for Fibre Arts Design’s website. His skill with lighting and arrangement makes the colors and textures of the handbags pop off the screen. Designer Wo Schiffman says that his “incredible skill behind a camera helps our products shine.”
