FireEar Corporation, a leader in affordable home safety monitoring systems for fire, power and temperature, announced today the appointment of Larry Sikon, Managing Director at Laurence Sikon & Associates, to FireEar’s Board of Advisors. Larry brings more than 20 years of executive level management experience in financial services and information technology to contribute to FireEar’s strategic initiatives.

The FireEar FE-1100 monitor, recently named International CES Innovations 2010 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree, is a simple home monitoring device that works with the FireEar notification service to monitor the home for fire, power outages, indoor freezing and other abnormal temperatures. The temperature alerts can help lower the homeowner’s energy bill and prevent pipe freezes. Fire detection alerts are activated by listening to the existing smoke detector installed in the home. Homeowners are notified of alerts by phone, text message and email, with additional professional monitoring available for fire that contacts FireEar agents and the fire department.

Prior to founding Laurence Sikon & Associates, an information technology consulting and services group, where he is the executive manager, Larry was chief information officer at Thomas Weisel Partners, a San Francisco investment bank. At Tomas Weisel he reduced annual IT expense from $50 million to $25 million while directing IT expansion from a 4-office private U.S. company to a 15-city, Sarbanes-Oxley compliant public company conducting business in five countries.

At Banc of America Securities, an investment banking subsidiary of Bank of America, Larry was the chief technology officer and managed the engineering and support of all core technologies. As a vice president at Merrill Lynch and Co., he played a senior management role in the development of Merrill’s next generation branch office system (Trusted Global Advisor - TGA) in support of 20,000 financial consultants located in 600 offices throughout the U.S.

Larry also has held significant information technology executive positions as the interim chief technology officer for LPL Financial, a senior vice president at Union Bank, a vice president and director of MIS for Chase's Institutional Banking Group with The Chase Manhattan Bank, the chief information officer with DHL Worldwide Express and the chief operating officer for Senterprise, Inc.

He was awarded a BS in mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University, and received his MBA in finance from Fordham University.
