First Choice Loan Services Loan Originators Raise Funds for Officer's Family
DALLAS, TX (PRWEB) August 26, 2016 -- New Jersey-based residential mortgage lender First Choice Loan Services Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of First Choice Bank, today announced that Sales Manager Amy Neal, Senior Loan Originator Cory Neal and Loan Originator Walt Harper in collaboration with the Coriscana office of Keller Williams and the Navarro County Realtor Association helped raise over $10,000 to benefit the family of Brent Thompson. Thompson was one of five police officers killed in the shootings in downtown Dallas on July 7, 2016.
A native of Corsicana, Thompson, 43, was a former instructor at Navarro College Police Academy. He worked at the Navarro County Sheriff’s Department and the Corsicana Independent School District Police Department before becoming an officer at the Dallas Area Rapid Transit in 2009. He survived by his wife of two weeks, seven children and two grandchildren.
“We were so saddened by what occurred in downtown Dallas in July. Then, when we discovered the events directly touched Corsicana and people we know and love, we were heartbroken and desperately wanted to do something,” said Amy Neal. “Our mortgage company started a companywide campaign of ‘wear blue for the blue’ in which team members donated money to wear denim to work. The money raised then went to benefit families of the fallen officers. We built on that idea and focused it more locally to show our support and appreciation for Brent Thompson and his family. We’re extremely grateful for First Choice Loan Services contributing $3,000 in matching funds.”
To help raise awareness of the fundraising efforts, the Neals worked with the Coriscana office of Keller Williams to design, sell and distribute yard signs around the Coriscana community. All 250 signs that were produced were sold, adding $2,500 into the overall total.
“Corsicana has always been a close community. While we never want a tragedy like this to happen, when it does, those ties become even stronger, and we’re reminded how wonderful the people of Corsicana are,” said Cory Neal. “Brent made the ultimate sacrifice, and as much as we try, there’s not a way to fully express our respect and sympathies. This was the least we could do to honor this hero.”

The money raised was presented to the family at a meeting of the Navarro County Realtor Association on August 18, 2016.
