Fitness Competitor's Breast Augmentation Journey with Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. S. Larry Schlesinger
Honolulu, HI (PRWEB) February 24, 2015 -- Jessica is a professional fitness bikini competitor who opted for breast augmentation because her weight training caused her breasts to get lean along with her abs. She felt preserving her femininity was a top priority in her male-dominated industry.
Why is she sharing her story? Jessica has Stargardt disease, an inherited form of macular degeneration, which has been deteriorating her eyesight since the ninth grade. Her condition, because it makes her unsure of her surroundings and environment, impacts her self-esteem. For Jessica, her decision for surgery is a step toward confidence for herself, and by example, for others who suffer with Stargardt disease. She wants to inspire people to find strength to do what makes them feel confident.
She chose award-winning board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. S. Larry Schlesinger, of the Breast Implant Center of Hawaii in Honolulu. In part one of the six-part series, as she and her husband prepare for her consult, you can see Jessica has high hopes.
“So I feel that with this whole procedure, just feeling more confident and feeling like who I truly am - feeling feminine...feeling like a woman, I just feel that overall it’s just going to change my outlook completely,” she says.
For Jessica’s procedure, Dr. Schlesinger used the Keller Funnel, which enables smaller incisions and touch-free insertion. This lessens the chance of infection and bruising, and leads to improved comfort and faster healing. He also chose a transaxilllary approach.
“Transaxillary incisions (incisions in the armpit) are my favorite route of entry for breast augmentations for the following reasons: (a) armpit scars tend to be very thin and fine because the lower part of the skin, the dermis, is thin, and, in general, the thinner the dermis, the finer the scar as long as it is sewn up correctly; (b) no one, not even your mother, has ever intentionally looked into your armpits,” Dr. Schlesinger says.
