FLÖA is using the latest innovations in seamless circular knit technology to create a baselayer that has a premium finish and is designed for a specific discipline: backcountry skiing and snowboarding.

Today, FLŌA launches its campaign on Kickstarter for The Backcountry Baselayer, a baselayer designed specifically for high-level skiers and snowboarders who are passionate about off-piste and backcountry environments.

With enhanced temperature management and moisture control properties, The Backcountry Baselayer is made from a proprietary merino-poly blended yarn with 4-way stretch. Merino is a natural wool fiber that is odorless, breathable, warm and fully sustainable, while Polyester allows for advanced moisture wicking ensuring that wearers are not only comfortable, but also warm.

The Backcountry Baselayer’s mapped compression helps increase blood circulation and alleviate muscle fatigue, while cooling channels and closed-hole mesh help trap air to create a self-ventilating microclimate without altering the body’s core temperature.

“FLÖA is using the latest innovations in seamless circular knit technology to create a baselayer that has a premium finish and is designed for a specific discipline: backcountry skiing and snowboarding,” said The Backcountry Baselayer Creator Fergie Miller. “Our garments use mapped compression and targeted ventilation that are designed to keep you warm and dry for the hike up while also providing power and support for the ride down. We created a garment that truly supports pushing yourself to your limits in the backcountry playground.”

The Backcountry Baselayer’s FLÖA:MAP technology supports wearers by combining several key qualities for hiking and descending off-piste or in the backcountry. Protection through high loft padding on the elbows and high gauge knit on the shoulders gives wearers more comfort while wearing a backpack. Ventilation on the upper chest, under the arms, and the lower and upper back helps manage a user’s body temperature and sweat at different intensity workout levels. These features are mapped across a body to provide users with targeted support and ensure they remain warm and dry during long periods of low intensity hiking uphill, but still provide the power and dynamics to make the most of a descent or ride.

The Backcountry Baselayer is currently available for pre-order on Kickstarter for $153 for a top and pant set, which is 40% off the future retail price. For more information about the campaign or to pre-order, visit pr.go2.fund/floa.
