Nowhere else can holiday-goers see live launches, speak to astronauts and tackle realistic simulators!
(PRWEB) August 9, 2010
Orlando’s world-famous Kennedy Space Center is launching more families on holidays to Florida with new attractions lifting off this summer, and you can be there with Florida4Less.
Kennedy Space Center is one giant leap in bringing mankind’s greatest achievements to families with children of all ages. Nowhere else can holiday-goers see live launches, speak to astronauts and tackle realistic simulators. Now, families considering Orlando holidays have even more to see, with five new attractions.
STAR TREK LIVE
First up is an interactive stage show that lets families join Starfleet Academy before boldly going on a warp-speed adventure through space. Combining science fiction and fact, education and entertainment, the 30-minute show features on-screen appearances by Captain James Kirk and Spock, plus live actors and special effects.
As a day at Starfleet Academy is disrupted by a Romulan attack, Star Trek Live teaches cadets about living, working and travelling in space, as well as the latest communication technologies. After all, learning about the present could save the future.
EXPLORATION SPACE: EXPLORERS WANTED
This new 10,000ft hub of space discovery immerses families on holidays to Florida in live theatre, hands-on exhibits and multimedia demonstrations, to reveal what the real future of space travel will look like.
Paying homage to the people behind mankind’s greatest exploratory feats, Explorers Wanted runs twice hourly, showing future pioneers the challenges of tomorrow.
HUBBLE 3D IMAX® FILM
Kennedy Space Center’s latest IMAX® experience whisks families away from their Florida holiday and into space. Space-walking alongside astronauts, visitors learn the history of the Hubble Telescope and how it changed the way humanity looks at the universe.
Narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, Hubble 3D is told right from the spot on which Space Shuttle Discovery launched to deploy the telescope. Besides footage showing how astronauts brave outer space to keep the telescope operational, Hubble 3D sends viewers into the hearts of galaxies revealed by the telescope over the last 20 years.
SCIENCE ON A SPHERE®
Kennedy Space Center isn’t just about looking out at the stars. Science on a Sphere® turns Orlando holidays into a 3D journey around the globe, as seen from space.
It enables families on Florida holidays to see everything, from weather and tide patterns to aircraft movement, learning about how space technology is aiding mankind’s understanding of Earth, before venturing out into the solar system.
Following this, visitors can explore the Astronaut Hall of Fame® featuring the world’s biggest collection of rare memorabilia, plus training simulators to let kids launch into a lifelike experience of spaceflight.
FAMILY ASTRONAUT TRAINING EXPERIENCE®
For families looking for a more adventurous Florida holiday, the Family ATX® is a half-day adventure for adults and children over 7.
Providing a real slice of astronaut life, the activity immerses families in spaceflight training, state-of-the-art simulators and activities to build their own rockets, under the watchful eye of a veteran NASA astronaut. The experience is capped by a mission to the International Space Station in a full orbiter and mission control mock-up.
