FloridaMarijuanaInfo.org Poll: 88% of Florida Voters Polled Say Law Enforcement Efforts Enforcing Marijuana Regulation Not Worthwhile
Boca Raton, FL (PRWEB) June 26, 2014 -- From June 16th to June 19th, FloridaMarijuanaInfo.org, the state’s non-biased, information ‘hub’ of all things marijuana, conducted a random online sampling of 1,151 Florida voters, 18+. The results reflect a 95% level of confidence, with a critical value of 1.96. The margin of error is +/- 2.9% = (1.96/(2 √ 1151)= 0.028886)
With the Florida’s Sherriff’s Association publicly opposed to any legalization, perhaps the most telling find is that 92% of poll’s respondents do not believe that legalizing medical marijuana would lead to increased crime. Just 5% believe it would, and 3% were unsure. An overwhelming number of respondents (88%) said that law enforcement efforts enforcing marijuana regulation are not worthwhile.
FloridaMarijuanaInfo.org found that 95% of respondents are in favor of legalizing marijuana for medicinal use, showing slightly higher approval numbers than in similar statewide polls.
94% of the male respondents said they supported the legalization of medical marijuana, with just 97% of women favoring its legalization. Among the age groups polled, 18-29 year olds have the highest support rate at 97%, with 30-44 year olds at 96%, 45-64 year olds at 95%, and 65+ year olds at 88%.
“With almost nine out of ten voters in favor of medical marijuana, I would say with little hesitation that Amendment 2 has a very strong chance of passing,” said David Cohn, Publisher, FloridaMarijuanInfo.org.
The poll also found that between marijuana, alcohol, tobacco and sugar, 46% of respondents found tobacco to be the most harmful to an individual’s health. Alcohol came in second with 37% of the vote, followed by sugar at 15%, and marijuana at just 3%.
