Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Bicycle Motocross Race to Raise Money for Cancer Research
Fort Walton Beach, FL (PRWEB) February 28, 2014 -- Fort Walton Beach, Florida’s nationally sanctioned non-profit Bicycle Motocross racing organization is hosting a Bicycle Motocross (also known as BMX) race to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and its cancer research efforts.
The event is scheduled for this Saturday, March 1st, and starts at 2pm with race registration and on track practice. Shortly after 4PM the BMX racing will begin with the national anthem and a parade lap of our younger racers. Racers of all ages, and both boys and girls, will compete on the track and are also encouraged to raise donations in support of the event. The race organizer, Emerald Coast BMX Association, and its national sanctioning body, USA BMX, will be donating half of all the race registration fees directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
In addition, any donations from racers or the general public will be accepted and provided in full to directly to the Leukemia & Lymphoma society. BMX racing typically requires an annual membership with the national sanctioning body, USA BMX, however for this charity race that requirement is waived. Anyone, may race on March 1st for the price of normal race day registration.
Since 1981 each USA BMX sanctioned racing track throughout the US, Canada and Puerto Rico have held a benefit race for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - known as the "Race For Life." At the recent USA BMX Summit in Louisville, Kentucky, USA BMX presented a ceremonial check for over $302,000 to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for funds raised during 2013. These Race For Life event have made USA BMX, and its local racing tracks, one of the top five donors to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
