General Motors Suspends Sale of 2013-14 Chevrolet Cruze for Possible Airbag Defect
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) June 27, 2014 -- According to Auto News, on June 24, General Motors asked dealers to stop delivery of all 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Cruze sedans due to a possible manufacturing defect in the driver-side airbags.* While the company has yet to issue a recall, the stop-delivery order is the latest development in the safety-related saga for GM, who has already recalled some 20 million vehicles this year.

General Motors is currently under investigation for its handling of an ignition switch defect, a problem that the company said it knew about more than a decade ago. So far, at least 80 lawsuits have been filed against GM for the ignition switch problem, a few of which allege serious injury. The defect, which causes the engine to shut off and airbags to disable without warning, has been linked to 54 crashes and 13 deaths, according to a June 9, 2014 article by Fox News.**
The ignition switch recall, which involves approximately 2.6 million vehicles worldwide, spurred a flurry of recalls for the company.
