BioPolyPETG+ blend poised to deliver a "hat trick"

InPro's BioPolyPETG+ blend green building products for door and wall protection are made from a blend of biopolymer and reformulated PETG including recycled content.

We applaud the USGBC for using the proposed 2012 revision to encourage innovation in material science, said Phil Ziegler, InPro's president.

InPro Corporation today announced its BioPolyPETG+ blend green building products are already positioned for the next revision of the LEED® rating system scheduled for release in 2012.

In November, the U.S. Green Building Council's (USGBC) released its draft version of the LEED 2012 rating system. InPro's product would help architects meet the requirement for the newly drafted Bio Based Materials credit, as well as a proposed credit for recycled content in non-structural materials. InPro BioPolyPETG+ blend also contains 20 percent pre-consumer recycled content.

"We applaud the USGBC for using the proposed 2012 revision to encourage innovation in material science," said Phil Ziegler, InPro's president. "And we're quite pleased that our pioneering approach of combining biopolymer with both virgin and recycled PETG will now help contribute toward LEED credits. When you tack on the low-emitting properties that meet the current LEED EQ credit, BioPolyPETG+ blend delivers a hat trick."

In March, InPro rolled out a new line of door and wall protection products made from a blend of biopolymer and reformulated PETG including recycled content. The green building products are sold at the same price level as InPro vinyl products, and marketed under the BioPolyPETG+ blend trade name. The products hold GREENGUARD® certification for Indoor Air Quality as well as the stricter GREENGUARD® Children and Schools seal.

All of the raw materials used in their manufacturing process for the BioPolyPETG+ blend product line come from U.S. based suppliers. No materials are shipped in from overseas, keeping the carbon footprint to a minimum. The new BioPolyPETG+ blend holds an NFPA Class 1 fire rating. InPro's blend of biopolymer and PETG does not contain PBTs. It also is BPA free. InPro uses PETG as a base and blends it with a plant-based biopolymer to give the materials high-impact resistance. The base PETG holds a Silver Cradle to Cradle CertificationCM.
