The creator of GrubDudz, Bonnie Bartos, has an impressive, yet eclectic, background, which ultimately led her to create these awesome items. Bonnie began her career in Healthcare over 20 years ago. She was a Physician’s Assistant (PA-C) and a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE). Bonnie often worked with patients who had a low literacy level, had different learning styles, or spoke English as a second language, which inspired her to create education material that could be easily interpreted by anyone. She drew “pictograms” by hand that conveyed important medical instruction to her patients. These pictograms were published, and earned Bonnie an award from the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
Bonnie loved her career in healthcare, however she was missing a creative outlet. While browsing through a craft store, Bonnie happened upon some brightly colored vegetable print fabric, and decided she had to create something fun with this whimsical material. Bonnie created a shirt that she wore to a medical conference. The shirt garnered so much attention, from medical professionals and patients alike, and was a true conversation starter. It occurred to Bonnie that she might be on to something. She began collecting all sorts of fun food related fabric, and began to create numerous functional and amusing items. From this event, GrubDudz was born! Bonnie created the apron and oven mitt, which she currently sells at conferences and by word of mouth. The oven mitt is particularly unique as it is much longer than most others, and protects the whole forearm from heat.
