HandsFree Networks' (http://www.handsfreenetworks.com ) end-point security management solution, which ships this summer, is the first multi-vendor centralized, remote end-point security management solution that leverages the capabilities of all of the leading end-point security solutions -- at an unheard-of price: $1 per system, per month.
It includes powerful native-action-based malwear protection and control, detection, and protection functions -- at a price that immediately creates immense opportunity for managed service providers serving the cost-sensitive SMB market.
HandsFree Networks' end-point security management solution will ship August 1, 2007.
Fully 80 percent of the 450 SMB IT decision makers surveyed fear an IT security threat, according to a recent report from IDC, "SMBs in a Connected World: Business Success Means Facing New IT Security Threats." IDC specifically notes that managed security services -- more than other approaches -- help small businesses effectively secure their information assets, and control costs.
'Last-Line' of Protection for End-Point Devices
HandsFree Networks' end-point security management delivers real-time protection and security related information. It also lets users manage security of widely dispersed end-point devices remotely and simultaneously. HandsFree Networks' end-point security management works together with -- and enhances -- 3rd party end-point security solutions. This gives users complete freedom to use the most appropriate tool for each task.
“End-point security is a moving target,” said Alessandro Donnini, president of HandsFree Networks. “Today, no vendor has the ‘total’ answer -- there are security gaps in every product. HandsFree Networks' managed end-point security solution frees managed service providers to use the best tools from any vendors.”
Its affordable pricing makes HandsFree Networks’ end-point security management a compelling business proposition. The price of $1 per month covers everything: There are no minimum volume requirements and volume discounts are applied to the total number of systems monitored. Licenses are completely portable.
Automates Installation, Management, and Reporting
HandsFree Networks’ end-point security management ensures that any device added to a network is immediately profiled and protected. The software leverages HandsFree Networks' powerful Automated Support Infrastructure (ASI) to let providers manage end-point security remotely and automatically for multiple systems -- simultaneously -- in widely distributed environments.
Today, while Symantec, McAfees, and Trend Micro dominate the end-point security market, new players are constantly making inroads. This flux creates strong demand for a solution that lets managed service providers effortlessly manage multiple end-point security software solutions from a single, remote location.
“We are completely vendor-agnostic,” said Allan Miller, vice president of engineering of HandsFree Networks. “We add support for new end-point security solutions responding to customer demand. And always at the same price -- about 3 cents a day.”
HandsFree Networks’ automates management of all the leading end-point security solutions, including Symantec, McAfee, Trend Micro, and Computer Associates. Support of Avast and AVG anti virus. Spybot Search & Destroy anti spyware solutions is also available at no extra charge, though not enabled by default.
HandsFree Networks’ end-point security management by default automatically scans for viruses and updates virus definition using the supported anti virus product installed on a system.
Scan and update completion status, and virus definition dates are reported in real-time to the HandsFree Networks Automated Support Infrastructure (ASI) server, where alerts, and reports covering scan and update completion status, virus definition dates, virus management problems, and virus neutralization actions are produced automatically.
Powerful Malware Protection
Security experts admit that signature-based anti virus and anti spyware solutions cannot fully protect systems against new threats, or new variants of known threats. HandsFree Networks’ end-point security management addresses this challenge with powerful native malware protection that works in conjunction with other malware solutions already installed.
This protects key system areas from infiltration by non-permitted items -- in real time. It also lets managed service providers remotely manage the content of the system areas typically targeted by malware. As with all HandsFree Networks functions, this can be done simultaneously across multiple systems, worldwide.New intrusion protection functions are constantly being added.
Native intrusion protection functions available at launch include:
- Start-up environment control and management
- Protection and management of areas such as hosts files, browser helper objects, shell extensions,
Microsoft Internet Explorer settings, Winlogon registry keys, and many more
- Network packet filtering
- Program execution control
- File, folder, and registry protection
- User logon-logoff tracking
- Real-time event detection and reporting
Device security assessment is a key step in ensuring robust end-point security. HandsFree Networks’ end-point security management collects detailed information from the system registry, application logs, the Microsoft Windows event log, process, dialog box, and file level events, WMI and DMI interfaces, and its own functions, providing the most comprehensive device security profile on the market.
HandsFree Networks’end-point security management protects systems run MS Windows 95, 98, 98SE, Me, NT4, 2000, XP, Server 2003. MS Vista support will be available in Q4 2007.
