Hispanic Author Raul Castillo Shares the Joy of Education with “La Bruja Que No Fue A La Escuela” With Families
Aurora, Illinois (PRWEB) November 15, 2016 -- During Halloween weekend, Raul Castillo, a Hispanic author and educator, used a not so scary witch to bring home the point to Spanish-speaking families in his book "La Bruja Que No Fue A La Escuela" (The Witch Who Never Went to School) the importance of reading and writing at the offices of Ponce Reyna Agency/Farmers® Insurance in Aurora, Illinois.
Dressed in festive costumes, the agency’s staff welcomed 25 families to personally meet Castillo and learn more about his book. This was one of a few stops that he presented a children’s book event in Aurora and Elgin, Illinois.
Written in Spanish for children ages 8 and up, Castillo's book describes a grandfather recalling a tale to his grandson of how the elder in his youth met a friendly witch who was in search of a school to develop reading and writing skills. Their encounter leads them to a local library where they discover the joy of reading and develop a friendship where the boy promises to help the witch in her quest for learning. The 13-page book is published by Fig Factor Media, LLC and contains color illustrations drawn by Patricia Sanchez, Castillo’s wife.
“I was so happy to see these families come out and support this book,” Castillo says. “It means a lot to me because I want Hispanic parents and relatives to encourage their children’s learning. Reading and writing is so essential to building successful lives and careers.”
