Hunt Studios Expands Tile Collection by Introducing Stunning New Tile Designs by Matthew Vigeland
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) July 20, 2013 -- The latest additions to Hunt Studios' collection, a series of tile designs by Matthew Vigeland offers architects and designers additional opportunities to integrate intricate modular designs into their projects that are a step above standard offers, while at the same time eliminating the need – and expense – of a full customized solution.
Hunt Studios is lead by master carver and sculptor Nathan Hunt, who brings with him over two decades of experience with high-profile projects and his ability to translate design concepts into stone and cast materials. Hunt's team has partnered with architects and designers all over the world in creating sculptures and classical ornamentation of vastly different scales and styles. The recent resurgence of demand in handcrafted and locally sourced design has further increased demand for the firm's custom work, yet at the same Hunt Studios also is intent to make his mark through his tile collection, steadily epanding on its offerings.
In a fast-paced world dominated by mass manufacturing and slick digital technologies, the hand carved work by Hunt Studios provides a refreshingly tangible experience, showcasing sculptural design and ornamentation at its best – reminiscent of traditional crafts from centuries ago, yet very much at home in the architectural world of today, both in modern or traditional settings.

Hunt Studios Has build a strong reputation for their high quality sculptural work. Recently completed projects include:
Spirit of the Ocean
Together with Britishstoneworks, and Melka Sculpture Hunt Studios worked diligently on the front lawn of the Santa Barbara courthouse for seven months to re-create Spirit of the Ocean, a national historic landmark sculpture, in Santa Barbara. Recipient of the Governors Historic Preservation Award.
The Japanese House
Hunt Studios contributed to an award-winning renovation project at the Huntington Library's Japanese Gardens, in San Marino, California. "The Japanese House" was built in Japan around 1904 and now graces the gardens with restored splendor. Hunt Studios provided the cast architectural elements that adorn the rooftop; traditional Kara-jishi sculptures. The proud roof-dogs look out over the gorgeous nine-acre Japanese garden and the many visitors that come to be immersed in its beauty. The renovation project earned Merit Award honors from both the Los Angles and Pasadena/Foothill chapters of the AIA.
Neptune
Hunt Studios created a reproduction of a c. 14th century statue of Neptune commissioned by the Saint Louis Museum of Art. The original, heavily deteriorate, statue was translated into a three dimensional model using a 3D scanner. Then the model was locally reproduced in foam before it was carved in stone at Hunt's Los Angeles studio. A pointing machine was used to rough-out the initial form, and then the figurative details were added, paying special attention to the historical as well as the anatomical accuracy. Once completed, the statue was shipped to Saint Louis to be displayed.
