Industry Professionals Attend Familiarisation Trip for Thailand’s Medical and Wellness Services
(PRWEB) August 26, 2013 -- More than 30 medical facilitators and travel agencies specialising in health and wellness tourism participated in this year’s FAM trip. These participants represented ten countries, including the US, Australia, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman. This is the second time that industry professionals have been invited to a FAM trip of this type, and the success of last year’s trip indicated that there would be sufficient demand to hold the event again this year.
It is hardly surprising that this event has generated so much interest. Thailand has a thriving health and wellness industry, and TAT has done much to ensure that it receives international exposure. When commenting on the FAM trip, the TAT Governor, Mr Suraphon Svetasreni, said, ‘The invited participants will have had a good chance to see the full range of our unique health and wellness facilities. Currently, 28 Thai hospitals are JCI accredited’. This accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI) is a source of pride to the Thai authorities, particularly as no other country in Asia can claim to have as many hospitals holding this prestigious standard. JCI was formed in 1994, and has a presence in more than 90 countries. By working with health care organisations and governments, JCI champions patient safety and rigorous standards of care in the international community.
The FAM trip itinerary also included a conference where renowned Thai physicians had the opportunity to speak about trends and advancements made in the medical treatments they provide. The treatments discussed included plastic surgery, fertility treatment and anti-ageing treatments. Thailand is also renowned for its spa services, and the country is regarded by many international institutes as the spa capital of Asia. Indeed, Thailand’s commitment to the ongoing development of its spa services, together with the constructive guidance of The Thai Spa Association, has led to a diverse range of spa treatments being available.
