The top 10 vendor opportunities cover the scope of information security work
Reston, VA (Vocus) February 28, 2008
The Federal government is preparing to release ten contracts valued at $812 million with work relating to agency information security efforts in Fiscal Year 2008 (FY08), according to a report released by INPUT , the authority on government business. 80% of these top 10 opportunities are recompete contracts, revealing the current focus on steady-state operations. INPUT expects the federal information security market to grow by nearly 10% between FY08 and FY09 – with FY09 being the year where vendors may begin to see larger infusions of cyber security spending into agency budgets.
“The top 10 vendor opportunities cover the scope of information security work,” says Chris Campbell, senior analyst with INPUT. “Opportunities range from network security to incident response to compliance services related to the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA),” Campbell added.
The report suggests that most federal IT departments do not possess the required security knowledge to stay current with the threats that exist.
“Current requirements reach beyond the capabilities of most agency IT departments, requiring assistance from the vendor community to provide installation, and in many cases, operation and management services,” noted Campbell.
INPUT’s report analyzes the overall federal information security market and examines the top ten information security opportunities that are expected to be released in 2008. The information on the opportunities includes a summary, estimated RFP release and incumbent information.
