Intensely Textured Reclaimed Wood to be Unveiled at ICFF in NYC by Pioneer Millworks
Farmington NY (PRWEB) May 01, 2015 -- Pioneer Millworks, the largest reclaimed wood company in the world, will share the latest in their reclaimed wood products at the 27th annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC this May. Their newest offerings, Vat 35, Mushroom Boards, and Prairie Boards, will bring much anticipated texture and color to North America's platform for global design.
“We've seen an explosion of texture and color in the design world and we're excited to share new reclaimed wood that offers original weathered surfaces and natural patinas – wood that otherwise may have ended in landfills, burned, or simply rotted away,” explains Jered Slusser, reclaimed wood expert at Pioneer Millworks. “Designers and homeowners alike pack our exhibit at each show, anxious to feel the various surfaces of the wood in our display.”
With hundreds of species, grades, and finish combinations, Pioneer Millworks continually searches for exceptional surfaces and hues of reclaimed wood to add to their offerings. Their exhibit showcases a variety of their well-known and new products and finishes. At ICFF the newest products and grades that will be on display include:
- Vat 35 Patina, Vat 35 Patina Interior, Vat 35 Center Cut, and Vat 35 As Found. Each grade of the Douglas fir planks have distinct character from their previous life as part of a small reserve of vats used in the fruit industry.
- Mushroom Boards Patina has an eroded, washboard-like face achieved from years of enzymatic reaction between the soil, fungi, and wood in the moisture-laden environment used to grow mushrooms while the Mushroom Boards Circle Sawn face is textured with original saw marks.
- Prairie Boards were salvaged from the great plains of the United States where winter can be harsh creating a silvered surface on the mixed softwood boards. The oxidized surface layer provides a good deal of protection to the wood underneath, which means it can be put right back into the service. The boards were snow fences used to help stop the never-ending winter winds and heavy snow, and provide enclosed spaces for horses and cows.
ICFF will take place at the Jacob Javits Convent Center in NYC with the Expo running from 10am-5pm on May 16-19.
