Updated Back to School Internet Safety Guide for Parents Now Available for Download at No Cost.

As America prepares for the new school year, online sexual predators, cyber criminals and serial cyberbullies are also designing their cyber attack strategies. The Information Age has many benefits to children and all humanity, but it is vital to identify and prevent the malevolent and nefarious elements that exist in cyberspace. Most susceptible to online victimization are children who are discouraged, distressed and monitored by inactive parents and caregivers ignorant to internet safety practices.

New York State licensed psychologist and certified forensic consultant, Michael Nuccitelli Psy.D., C.F.C., has updated and made available, at no cost, his 2013-2014 “Internet Safety Guide for Parents” web page article to read, print or download. Dr. Nuccitelli’s packet was created for parents, educators and primary caregivers to use as a guideline to helping children reduce their chances of being victimized by cyberbullies, cyberstalkers, cyber criminals and online sexual predators.

In addition to being available at no cost, no personal information is required for download. Interested parties can visit iPredator Inc.’s website or by clicking on this link for direct access: Internet Safety Guide for Parents. To print or download the entire web page in PDF, scroll down to the base of the web page and click on the green print/pdf button.

Themed throughout all of iPredator Inc.’s prevention education information is Dr. Nuccitelli’s construct, iPredator. The definition is as follows:

iPredator: A person, group or nation who, directly or indirectly, engages in exploitation, victimization, coercion, stalking, theft or disparagement of others using Information and Communications Technology (ICT). iPredators are driven by deviant fantasies, desires for power and control, retribution, religious fanaticism, political reprisal, psychiatric illness, perceptual distortions, peer acceptance or personal and financial gain. iPredators can be any age or gender and are not bound by economic status, race, religion or national heritage.

iPredator is a global term used to distinguish anyone who engages in criminal, coercive, deviant or abusive behaviors using ICT. Central to the construct is the premise that Information Age criminals, deviants and the violently disturbed are psychopathological classifications new to humanity. Whether the offender is a cyberbully, cyberstalker, cyber harasser, cyber criminal, online sexual predator, cyber terrorist or engaged in internet defamation or nefarious cyber deception, they fall within the scope of iPredator.

According to iPredator Inc.'s founder, Dr. Michael Nuccitelli, “I wonder if historians will one day, centuries from now, look back upon us and conclude we were a culture blind to the hidden dark side of cyberspace.

By virtue of the proverbial “cloak of anonymity” conveniently provided by ICT, iPredators troll cyberspace with a distinct advantage in their ability to represent themselves in any way they choose. Furthermore, they can secretly stalk their prey by tracking the potential victim’s path from an undetectable, safe distance. Not only can iPredators become anyone they choose to be, they can also become anyone their victim may subconsciously desire them to be.

The repercussions of the unrestricted latitude of iPredators will be catastrophic for not only online users, but for society, and potentially, the world over. Therefore, before it is too late, society must re-examine the phenomenon of “social networking” via technology. Humanity must become educated in the Dark Psychology of ICT and learn to respect the mighty potential for harm that lurks beneath its surface. Society has now become ripe for the birth and growth of a new human predator advanced in all things Internet. This deviant’s name is iPredator.
